Randall Kostick | President / Chief Executive Officer
Randall has grown with Zephyr since joining our ranks in 1986. Beginning as an agent, he rapidly contributed to the company’s success, and rose to the levels of Sales Manager, Partner, General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, before assuming the role of President and CEO. His direct experience in all areas of the business has helped Randall lead with a comprehensive knowledge. He has been instrumental in the growth and development of Zephyr, including the company’s expansion into San Francisco’s north side, the addition of improved in-house technology and marketing services, and the facilitation of key partnerships with independent brokerage affiliates in Sonoma County. He has also been highly involved in the local real estate community as a whole, serving for 6 years on the Board of Directors for the San Francisco Association of Realtors. He holds an MBA from the Shidler International School of Business at the University of Hawaii, as well as a CRB Certification from the Managers Council. Enjoys: Being a San Franciscan, occasional travel, raising a sword in competitive fencing.
William Drypolcher | Founding Broker
Bill founded Zephyr Real Estate in 1978 with three partners. Following a course of steady growth and forward-thinking development, he built the company into the largest independent real estate brokerage in San Francisco, with five offices, more than 225 agents and nearly $1.8 billion in annual sales. While serving as the Zephyr President, he created partnerships between agents, staff and ownership that fostered a small company, family atmosphere. He also incorporated an innovative program of bringing sales managers into company ownership. This creative leadership approach celebrated the company’s unique entrepreneurial spirit and has been a driving force in its success. Throughout his career, Bill has been actively engaged as a leader in the real estate community and has served as chairman on over 20 committees, including President of the San Francisco Association of REALTORS®. Enjoys: NCAA Wrestling, a good joke, San Francisco’s predictably unpredictable weather.
Steve De La Peña | Vice President of Strategic Services
Steve joined the Zephyr management team after years as a Sales Manager at several leading major market real estate brokerages, including Coldwell Banker and Pacific Union, and as the Broker-in-Charge and Vice President of Operations for Century 21 All Islands in Hawaii. In all cases, he successfully helped guide agents to top selling success in a wide variety of market conditions. He has continued this pattern with Zephyr, where he’s worked to create a professional and vibrant atmosphere by fostering growth for both new and experienced agents, as well as exploring new growth opportunities for the company. Putting his extensive agent, broker and management experience to work, he supports all levels of the Zephyr team, and our clients. Enjoys: martial arts, swimming to and from Alcatraz as a member of the South End Rowing Club, movies, music, literature and travel.
Matthew Borland | Chief Operating Officer
Matthew joined Zephyr Real Estate in 2004, having formerly co-owned and managed his own real estate firm. A Certified Residential Brokerage Manager, he provides an accessible, no-nonsense and creative management approach, which is focused on agent success. Active in local and statewide organized real estate, Matthew is a frequent speaker at various industry events and has chaired over 15 committees as part of the San Francisco Association of REALTORS®. With a passion for real estate technology, he is deeply involved in researching the newest and most effective ways to integrate new tech into the real estate business processes. This includes the incorporation of leading edge technology solutions such as Real Scout, Amitree/Closing Time and other online transaction management tools. Matthew was named REALTOR® of the year in 2004 and served as President of the San Francisco Association of REALTORS® in 2006. He currently serves as a Director of California Association of REALTORS®. Enjoys: music, dogs, trying to find an affordable, sexy electric car that seats four comfortably.
Jenn Pfeiffer | Managing Broker: Greenbrae (Marin County)
Jenn joined Zephyr Real Estate in 2015. Prior to becoming Marin’s sales manager, Jenn worked in the industry for 20 years as a real estate agent. Her passion for assisting agents, both new and experienced, with taking their business to the next level is an integral part of her office’s success. Jenn is a true mentor, coach and trainer who spends her time thoughtfully preparing agents for what’s to come. Her experiences buying and selling her own properties have provided her strong connections throughout the industry.
Michael Barnacle | Managing Broker: Pacific Heights
Michael joined Zephyr in 2013 and brings a wealth of experience and energy to his role as Managing Broker of the Pacific Heights office. Prior to that, he was with a brokerage in Boston and has been in the business since 1989. His background includes sales, marketing and customer service in the financial industry, nationally and internationally. Michael’s primary focus is to empower agents to succeed, expand the office team with superior agents, and lead by example in community involvement. He has trained and mentored agents at all experience levels from the creation of their business plans through the fulfillment of their goals. His passion for the business has created an impressive roster of satisfied clients. Based on his highly successful career as an agent, he clearly understands what it takes to be successful.
He has served on various REALTOR association boards and committees, and has been elected to the San Francisco Association of Realtors Board of Directors for 2017. Michael also serves as President of the Board for the United Irish Cultural Center and Board Member of the Irish Cultural Center of California, organizations dedicated to the preservation of Irish heritage and culture. Enjoys: travel, walking in Golden Gate Park, and his African Grey parrot named Oliver.
Marcia Thomas | Managing Broker: Noe Valley
Marcia started her career in the real estate industry working in the escrow and title business. In 1983, she began representing buyers and sellers and, in 1986, she helped open and establish Zephyr Real Estate’s Noe Valley office. Marcia has been a part of the Zephyr management team since 1998, beginning as the assistant sales manager before moving into the role of managing broker. With over 30 years of experience working at the company, Marcia is one of the pillars at Zephyr.
Christine Lopatowski | Managing Broker: Noe Valley
Christine joined Zephyr Real Estate in 2005. With a background in executive sales management, she understands the importance of strong client service, problem-solving and negotiating. Christine first experienced managing in Zephyr’s Potrero Hill Office as the assistant sales manager before bringing her expertise and connections to the Noe Valley office.
Matthew Goulden | Managing Broker: Upper Market & West Portal
Matthew joined Zephyr Real Estate in 2010 & has been buying and selling homes since 1990. Originally from London, England, Matthew worked in sales and management for over 20 years, before moving into his role as manager. He has a strong understanding of what it takes to be successful in San Francisco, given his successful track record as a top producing real estate agent. Matthew has been the recipient of many real estate awards throughout his career, establishing himself as a well-respected fixture within the Bay Area real estate community.
